Screen printing consists of pushing an ink through a screen. using a fill blade or squeegee (typically composed of stainless steel or polyester mesh) that is attached to a metal frame onto a material (substrate). Typically a single color is pushed through the screen, the material is moved to the next station, and then a second color is pushed through a different screen. For a four color process, this would be repeated four times for C,M,Y,K which when combined provides a full gamut of colors. Screen printing is known for its extremely high quality, durability, adhesion and longevity as the amount and type of inks that can be used are typically thicker than other printing process such as inkjet or flexo.
